May 11, 2009 – The Westhoff Law Firm successfully settled a sexual harassment case against a St. Louis produce company for $60,000.00. Benjamin Westhoff represented the plaintiffs, who were a mother and daughter from Illinois. The plaintiffs maintained they were subjected to sexual harassment by their supervisor in the form of pornographic images displayed on the supervisor’s computer, lewd jokes, and inappropriate touching. A computer forensic expert retained by the Westhoff Law Firm assisted in the retrieval of the pornographic material on the supervisor’s computers. The case settled approximately two weeks before trial.
February 19, 2009 - The Westhoff Law Firm, along with attorneys Gregory White and the Wallach Law Firm, successfully litigated a wrongful foreclosure claim against Option One Mortgage Corporation and Wells Fargo on behalf of Kevin Vanderfeltz. Mr. Vanderfeltz had lost his home to foreclosure after making his payments under his promissory note and deed of trust. A confidential settlement was reached to resolve the case before trial. St. Louis CBS affiliate KMOV ran a story concerning the case on February 19, 2009.
September 24, 2008 - Benjamin Westhoff and Peter Westhoff obtained a jury verdict in favor of Loretta Bryan in her wrongful termination case against the City of Beverly Hills and its Chief Alderperson. Following a week-long trial, the jury awarded Ms. Bryan $43,600.00 in compensatory and punitive damages. The defendants apologized for their misconduct in firing Ms. Bryan for complaining about discrimination during the punitive damages stage of the trial. Following the jury verdict, the Court awarded Ms. Bryan $60,000.00 in attorneys’ fees.
